Even in the animal kingdom, the prey can become the predator and vice versa. Prey is a new Predator movie set in eighteenth-century America, featuring a different design and weapons from previous films. While, if prey won’t be there, then the predators would strive from hunger and die. This made me wonder if the paradigm when applied to a management styles presents a binary situation or a spectrum that ranges between prey and predator. The prey-predator relationship maintains the ecological balance of the earth, as if predators won’t be there then the prey population would increase in earth, which would give rise to over grazing and hence this would directly affect the natural plant life circle. The planning and acting in those situations is purely reactive to the level of impact the risk has presented. If the predator fails to capture the prey, it goes hungry, but it will not experience a large decline in fitness as a result of the interaction. I have found it helpful on occasions when managing risks that have no contingency, also known as “unknown unknowns”, which are unexpected or unforeseeable conditions. This is not to say that the prey mindset does not address certain scenarios. Discover how predators and prey drive each other's evolution and adaptations. Learn how predators and prey define the roles in a relationship between two species that involves one species eating the other. Trying to understand issues and opportunities before they arise, and predict, to an extent, the probabilities of success/failure at each step and overall. Managing different projects with diverse teams, virtually connecting over different time zones with different specializations and seniority levels, it became clear that I had to adopt the “predator” mindset. They respond, and plan out their next step as a response to the stimuli presented by the predator. Predators are proactive, make quick decisions under pressure, and optimize their approach based on the relative chance of success.Let's think of management styles within the prey vs predator paradigm: In nature, entangled webs of predatorprey interactions constitute the backbones of ecosystems. ![]()
